Initial Situation
As part of the construction of the prestigious Knightsbridge Residence development in Baku’s White City district, numerous foundation connections and construction joints required permanent waterproofing.
Particular attention was given to foundation details, construction joints, and structural connections, which represent potential pathways for water ingress. A reliable and maintenance-friendly waterproofing solution was required to ensure long-term protection of the structure.
Project Challenge
Construction joints and structural connections are among the most critical areas of any waterproofing system. Uneven concrete surfaces, complex geometries, and demanding durability requirements often make reliable waterproofing particularly challenging.
The objective was to create a permanently watertight sealing system capable of performing reliably even on irregular substrates.
ARCAN Solution
HydroTape swellable waterstop strips were installed to provide active sealing of construction joints and connection areas. Upon contact with water, the waterstop expands and effectively blocks potential water pathways.
The waterstop strips were fixed using HydroColl 430, a specially developed adhesive designed for the secure installation of swellable waterstops under demanding site conditions.
In areas with rough or uneven concrete surfaces, HydroSeal 355 swellable sealing paste was applied. The paste compensates for substrate irregularities and ensures a continuous watertight connection between the waterstop and the concrete surface.
The combination of these systems provided reliable and long-lasting waterproofing of all critical foundation and connection details throughout the project.
